(Step 1) Meet the OD (Step 2) Tour Their Clinic (Step 3) Dine with your OD Mentor! *
What it is
The Mentorship visit consists of a group of optometry students visiting an optometry clinic in the Waterloo/Toronto area for 1-2 hours. The visit typically includes a clinic tour and a group discussion. This is a great opportunity to network with an optometrist and see how a private practice operates.
How it works
Once the signup is complete, students from all years will be separated into groups. Students can volunteer to be drivers and group leaders. Group leaders will set up a time to meet with the OD. The date of the meeting is flexible – group leaders will look for input to find a time that is most convenient for their group.
Even if you have worked in an optometrist’s office before, we strongly encourage you to sign up to visit a new clinic so you can see how different practices operate. Mentors in the program are all accessible within a 200km radius from the school and are located as far as Toronto. The optometrists who have volunteered as mentors are all really easy to talk to and eager to share their knowledge with you!
Visit dates will vary from group to group – sometime between October 2016 – March 2017. Your group leader will coordinate with your group and the OD to set a time.
The registration deadline is October 14, 2016 and is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Space is limited and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Feel free to check out our website for our past mentors and the Summer Mentorship Program. The Summer Mentorship Program is a different CAOS program with the same mentorship theme and operates all year round in different cities across Canada.
