Our group would like to thank Dr. Joe Hoja for a wonderful and unique mentorship experience with Peterborough Optometric. Dr. Hoja was more than generous in sharing his novel approach to business and optometry including strategies training staff members as scribes in the exam room and a commitment to every staff member completing the CCAO course so that they are better able to understand the purpose of the business. A willingness to adapt, grow and change with the times has clearly made the practice a success. Dr. Hoja and his staff demonstrated a true passion for optometry and a dedication to ensuring the best patient care. Our conversations extended to all aspect of our future in optometry including tips for cold starting a practice, the increasing demand for specialization including the need for low vision services and disease management in older communities like Peterborough, fun ways to keep support staff actively involved in the success of a practice and how to incorporate interests like rehabilitation and sports into an exciting career for many years to come. It was a wonderful experience and a great insight into life in private practice! Thank you Dr. Hoja and CAOS!
